Match Report An incredible quarter final took place at Cape Cornwall on Saturday when Newlyn let slip a 3 goal advantage (twice) to go crashing out of the cup. Newlyn got off to the perfect start, with Gulval conceding soft free-kicks deep inside our own half, and Andrew Palmer heading two goals from good set plays. Newlyn were flying, and midway through the half, they broke away and Palmer netted his third with a good finish, although Rod Gall almost tipped it around the post. Rhondda then made changes to the back 4, and this seemed to settle Gulval. The remained of the half was more even. Three nil at half time, Gulval knew they had to press forward from the start of the second half if there was to be any chance of a result. Within minutes of the re-start, Jamie Harrison headed on Mangle's attacking throw-in and Dan French scored from close range. However, Newlyn restored their three goal advantage right away when they broke down the middle of the field and Palmer scored his fourth of the game. Back came Gulval, first through Stuart Cooper, then a wonderful direct free kick from Jamie Harrison who gave the keeper no chance from 25 yards. Newlyn were now hanging on, and with Jamie continuing to win almost every header in and around the Newlyn penalty area, Gulval’s pressure soon paid off with Stuie Coops deftly chipping the keeper for the equaliser. Phil Harvey then rampaged forward and his shot took a slight deflection into the net. Gulval were now in the lead for the first time, and Newlyn were crumbling. Jamie then headed in Tom Mockford's great free-kick and late on, Jordan James added the last from close range to complete a magnificent comeback.
